Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP is an American international law firm whose largest office is in Washington, D.C. With more than 900 attorneys and advisers in the United States, Europe, the Middle East and Asia, the firm has offices in Dallas, Washington, D.C., Austin, San Antonio, Houston, New York, Moscow, Philadelphia, London, Los Angeles (Century City and Downtown), Longview, San Francisco, Beijing, Hong Kong, Singapore, Abu Dhabi and Geneva. It is the largest lobbying firm by revenue in the United States, having displaced the firm of Patton Boggs following the latter's merger with Squire Sanders in 2014. ''American Lawyer'' ranked Akin Gump as the 33rd highest grossing law firm in the United States in 2014, and the 40th highest grossing worldwide in 2013.〔 ==History== The firm was founded in Dallas, Texas, in 1945 by Robert Strauss and Richard Gump. It maintains a large presence in Texas with a total of six offices in the state. In 2013, Akin Gump adopted a "single tier" partnership structure, in which all partners have equity, abandoning the more popular "two tier" structure in which many partners have no equity interest.
